Identical letters dated 25 August 2016 from the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

On instructions from my Government, and further to our previous letters drawing your attention to attacks by the so-called Western coalition against the infrastructure of the Syrian Arab Republic, I transmit herewith a statistical table containing:

1. Initial estimates of the costs of losses resulting from attacks launched by the so-called Western coalition against oil and gas facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic during the period from 1 April to 31 July 2016.

2. Initial estimates of the overall costs of losses resulting from attacks launched by the so-called Western coalition against oil and gas facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic from the onset of those attacks to 31 July 2016.

I should be grateful if the present letter and its annex could be issued as a document of the Security Council.

25 June 2016 Umar field The oil collection terminal in the Umar field was bombarded. According to initial reports from the site, oil storage tanks 501, 402, 401 and 400 exploded.
The electrical turbines were also brought to a halt, and returned into service the next day.
