Original: ArabicIdentical letters dated 25 August 2016 from the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council
On instructions from my Government, and further to our many letters concerning the refusal of Israel to implement the internationally recognized resolutions calling for its withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan to the 4 June 1967 line and its continued violation of international law and the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement by, inter alia, providing assistance and support for armed terrorist groups in the area of separation in the Golan, I should like to draw your attention to the following important information:
The Israeli occupying forces are attempting to extend their authority over the Wadi Yarmuk and Wadi al-Ruqqad areas of the Dar'a countryside because they are rich in natural resources. They are being abetted in this attempt by armed terrorist groups affiliated with Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant in the villages of Shajarah, Kuwayyah, Abidin, Bayt Arah, Qusayr, Nafi'ah, Jamlah, Shabraq, Ayn Dhakar, Saysun, Abu Raqqah, Ghulah, Quraysh, Abu Hajar, Abu Faraj, Arab al-Sawdah, Shaykh Husayn, Sirkiyah and Ma'rabah, as well as by terrorist groups affiliated with the so-called Southern Front in the villages Jalifah, Saham al-Jawlan, Hayt, Tasil, Aji, Kharab al-Shahm and Tall Shihab in the Dar'a countryside. In order to achieve the above-mentioned goal, the terrorist groups are emptying those villages of their population by depriving the inhabitants of daily necessities, confiscating the homes of persons who have been absent from them for more than two days and preventing the owners from returning, and buying residents' homes and land.
The Government of the Syrian Arab Republic calls on the United Nations and, in particular, the Security Council, to take urgent action to put an immediate end to Israeli support for armed terrorist groups; put pressure on Israel to implement the relevant Security Council resolutions, in particular resolutions 242 (1967), 338 (1973) and 497 (1981); and compel Israel to withdraw from the entire occupied Syrian Golan to the 4 June 1967 line.
I should be grateful if the present letter could be issued as a document of the Security Council.
