Identical letters dated 6 May 2016 from the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

On instructions from my Government, I should to convey to you information regarding the terrorist attacks committed by armed terrorist groups active in Syrian territory in the month of April 2016.

31 March and 1 April

One child was killed and 21 other civilians, four of whom were children, were injured by explosive devices in several areas of Homs.
A rocket fired at the Harabish neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr killed one woman. A gas cylinder missile fell on the Shaykh Maqsud neighbourhood of Aleppo, injuring one woman.

2 April

Armed terrorist groups directed heavy machine gun fire at Qatana in Rif Dimashq, injuring two civilians.
Rockets fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing two civilians and injuring eight others.
Fifteen civilians were injured by an explosive device in the Ra's al-Ayn neighbourhood of Hasakah.
A mortar shell fell on the Harabish neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr, killing one civilian.

4 April

Gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing four civilians, including one woman, and injuring six others, including one woman and one child.
Mortar shells fell on several areas of Dayr al-Zawr, killing 14 civilians, some of whom were children and women, and injuring 15 others.

5 April

Dozens of rockets fell on the Shaykh Maqsud neighbourhood of Aleppo, killing 14 civilians and injuring 50 others.
Two gas cylinder missiles fell on the Hamdaniyah neighbourhood of Aleppo, killing two civilians and injuring five others.
Two civilians were killed and 15 others were injured, including four women and two children, in Dumayr city in Rif Dimashq.

6 April

Rockets fell on Shaykh Maqsud neighbourhood and Zahra' town in Aleppo, killing one civilian and injuring some 17 others.
Two mortar shells fell on the Qusur neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr, injuring one child.

7 and 8 April

Several mortar shells and gas cylinder missiles fell on residential areas of Aleppo, killing two civilians and injuring 14 others, some of whom were children.
A locally manufactured rocket fell on the Safirah neighbourhood of Aleppo, killing three civilians. Five civilians were struck by bullets in the Manshiyah, Jamiliyah and Isma'iliyah neighbourhoods. Gas cylinder missiles fell on the A'zamiyah neighbourhood, injuring two people.
Twenty mortar shells fell on the Harabish neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr, injuring four civilians. Mortar shells fell on the Qusur neighbourhood, injuring one civilian.

9 April

A landmine planted by armed terrorist groups in Darb Hasan village in rural Aleppo exploded, killing six children.
Gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing one civilian and injuring eight others, four of whom were children.
A rocket fell on Halab al-Jadidah in Aleppo, injuring 11 civilians, including one child.
A landmine planted by terrorist groups in Suwayda' exploded, injuring one civilian.

10 April

A rocket fell on Suqaylibiyah in Hama, killing one civilian.
Gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing one civilian and injuring five others, including one child.

11 April

Mortar shells fell on the Matar neighbourhood of Dar'a, injuring nine civilians, two of whom were women.
Several mortar shells fell on several areas of Homs, injuring nine civilians, seven of whom were female students.
A mortar shell fell on Ramusah in Aleppo, injuring one civilian.

14 and 15 April

Terrorist groups fired several shells and gas cylinder missiles at residential neighbourhoods of Aleppo, injuring civilians, some of whom were women and children.
A rocket fell on the Ashrafiyah neighbourhood of Homs, injuring one child.
One civilian was injured in Harabish neighbourhood when a group affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) organization opened fire.
Terrorist groups affiliated with ISIL opened fire on a news team from the Syrian Ikhbariyah station while it was covering operations being conducted by the army and armed forces against the takfirist organization's positions in Jafrah village, approximately six kilometres east of Dayr al-Zawr. Ibrahim al-Hamawi, a cameraman for the station, was injured in the attack.

16 and 17 April

Several gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing eleven civilians, including one child, and injuring 20 others.
Two landmines exploded in the Ra's al-Ayn and Shaddadah areas of Hasakah, killing one child and one civilian and injuring two others.
Six mortar shells fell on the Tahtuh neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr, killing one civilian and injuring one woman.

19 April

Rockets fell on the towns of Kafraya and Fu'ah in Idlib, killing four civilians, three of whom were children, and injuring nine others, three of whom were children.
Rockets fell on Suqaylibiyah city and Nahr al-Barid town in Hama, killing and injuring civilians, including one woman and one child.
Two mortar shells fell on Aleppo, injuring six civilians, two of whom were children.
A landmine planted by terrorist groups in Matmurah village in Hasakah exploded, injuring civilians.

21 and 22 April

Eight mortar shells fell on various areas of Rif Dimashq, killing two civilians and injuring 10 others.
Several rockets fell on various areas of Hama, killing one child and injuring two women.
Rockets fell on Kafraya town in Idlib, killing two civilians and injuring another.
A landmine planted by armed terrorist groups in Homs exploded, killing one civilian.
Gas cylinder missiles fell on various areas of Aleppo, injuring nine civilians, including one child.
A mortar shell fell on the Tahtuh neighbourhood of Dayr al -Zawr, killing one woman and one girl and injuring other civilians.

23 April

Nine mortar shells fell on several areas of Rif Dimashq, killing two women and one child and injuring two children and one woman.
A mortar shell fell on the Jala' neighbourhood of Damascus, injuring two women.
Gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing four civilians, three of whom were women, and injuring 56 others.

24 April

A mortar shell fell on Yarmouk camp in Damascus, killing one child and injuring one woman.
Dozens of gas cylinder missiles fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing 10 civilians and injuring over 20 others, some of whom were children and women.
Four rockets fell on various areas of Hama, killing civilians, one of whom was a woman, and injuring three other civilians.
Seven mortar shells fell on the town of Tall Dahab in Homs, injuring two children.
A mortar shell fell on Sarab village in Dayr al-Zawr, injuring one girl.

25 April

A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb at the entrance of Dhiyabiyah town in Rif Dimashq, killing five civilians and injuring 20 others.
Two mortar shells fell on Qatana in Rif Dimashq, killing one girl and injuring one woman.
Dozens of gas cylinder missiles fell on several residential neighbourhoods of Aleppo and on its countryside, killing 19 civilians and injuring 86 others.

26 April

A landmine planted by armed terrorist groups in Darb Hasan village in rural Aleppo exploded, killing six children.

Mortar shells fell on the Thawrah neighbourhood of Dayr al-Zawr, injuring nine civilians, two of whom were women.
Two landmines planted by armed terrorist groups in the towns of Tall al-Dirrah and Suqaylibiyah in Hama governorate exploded, killing two civilians.

27 April

Rockets fell on several areas of Aleppo, killing 10 civilians and injuring over 30 others, some of whom were children and women.
A mortar shell fell on the Wafidin camp in Rif Dimashq, killing one child.

28 and 29 April

Violent clashes between terrorist groups in eastern Ghutah killed some 16 civilians.
Thirty-three persons, many of whom were women and children, were killed and more than 165 others, most of whom were women and children, were injured when terrorists attacked residential neighbourhoods of Aleppo with rockets and mortar shells. The attack also caused significant material damage to Razi Hospital, homes and public and private property. As worshipers were leaving Friday prayers yesterday, terrorist organizations fired dozens of shells at the Bab al-Faraj, Maydan, Muhafazah, Sayf al -Dawlah, Idha'ah, Martini and Nile Street neighbourhoods.

30 April and 1 May

Dozens of rockets fell on residential neighbourhoods of Aleppo and its countryside, killing over 30 civilians and injuring 80 others, some of whom were children and women.
A landmine planted by terrorist groups in Mahattah village in Homs exploded, killing one civilian.
Thirteen mortar shells fell on Dayr al-Zawr, killing a number of civilians and injuring seven others, including one woman.

Attacks on oil and gas facilities and their employees

Armed terrorist groups carried out terrorist operations against oil and gas facilities and their employees. The attacks caused significant material losses and took some of the facilities out of service. Following is a list of some of the terrorist operations:

On 28 February, armed terrorist groups bombed Arab gas pipeline 36 in the Nasiriyah area of Rif Dimashq governorate.
On 5 April, armed terrorist groups fired several shells at the Qamishli fuel depot in Hasakah governorate.
On 5 April, armed terrorist groups kidnapped engineer Jamil al-Hasan, director of field operations of the Furat Petroleum Company in Dayr al-Zawr governorate. On 6 April, the groups kidnapped engineer Fawwaz al-Afarah, assistant director of field operations of the Furat Petroleum Company, and a group of employees from the Dayr al-Zawr gas plant.
On 7 April, armed terrorist groups fired more than 20 rockets at the gas plant in the southern part of the central region and at the Ebla gas plant in the Furqlus area in Homs governorate.
On 9 and 17 April, armed terrorist groups fired several shells at the Ramusah gas unit in Aleppo governorate.
