Identical letters dated 2 August 2016 from the Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council

On instructions from my Government, and further to our numerous letters regarding the direct targeting of civilians with mortar shells and explosive devices by multiple armed terrorist groups in various governorates of Syria, with the direct support of regimes that are well known to all, in particular Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, I am providing for your information a table indicating the numbers of civilians and children injured and killed in terrorist acts in a number of Syrian governorates, over the period from 22 June to 21 July 2016.

The Government of the Syrian Arab Republic once again entreats the Security Council to implement its resolutions on combating terrorism seriously and effectively, in particular resolutions 2170 (2014), 2178 (2014), 2199 (2015) and 2253 (2015), by compelling the regimes of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey to cease forthwith their support for armed terrorist groups and by holding the regimes in these States accountable for their crimes against the Syrian people.
