Russian Air Force, Syrian Army inflict heavy damage on ISIL's defenses in Deir Ezzor
The Islamic State (ISIL) militants in Deir Ezzor found themselves as the primary recipient of a powerful assault conducted by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Russian Air Force on Saturday night.
Taking off from Qamishli Military Airport in northeastern Syria, the Russian Air Force began the onslaught by launching several airstrikes over the Sheikh Yassine, Al-Rusafa, Al-Jubeileh, Al-Rashidiyah, and Al-Hussiniyah districts of Deir Ezzor.
These airstrikes severly damaged the Islamic State's defenses; especially in the Sheikh Yassine District, where the terrorist group's main explosives depot was destroyed by a Russian attack on Saturday evening.
Following the Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army unleashed their own assault against the Islamic State, destroying at least 3 pick-up trucks fitted with 23mm anti-aircraft machine guns in the Al-Ummal District, while also damaging a tank in the Panorama area.
The Syrian Arab Army would also target Islamic State gathering points in the Al-Hussiniyah, Al-Jubeileh, and Al-Hamidiyah districts of Deir Ezzor city.
