Syrian, Russian airstrikes cripple ISIS in east Hama
The Syrian and Russian air forces were relentless today in the eastern countryside of Hama, launching nonstop airstrikes over the Islamic State's positions near the Al-Raqqa Governorate's provincial border.
Syrian and Russian aviation officers were collecting intel for weeks before they launched the airstrikes over east Hama on Saturday, a military source told Al-Masdar News.
The source added that more than 5 helicopters and 2 jets struck the Islamic State's positions at the villages of Soha, Uqayrbat, Bal'as, and Al-Tanhaj in Hama's eastern countryside.
As a result of these airstrikes, the Islamic State lost several armored vehicles and a large number of combatants; especially, inside their primary stronghold of Uqayrbat in eastern Hama.
The eastern countryside of Hama is imperative to the Islamic State because it borders the Al-Raqqa Governorate; this is important because it is located along their supply route from east Homs.
