Syrian Army captures several sites in last rebel bastion east of Damascus
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their large-scale offensive in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Saturday, capturing several sites from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman.
Led by the 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the the outskirts of Hazrama, where they were encountered by a large force of Islamist rebels near the local cemetery and roundabout that lead into this important town in the East Ghouta.
According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army captured the Hazrama cemetery and roundabout after a violent battle with the fatigued Jaysh Al-Islam and Faylaq Al-Rahman fighters defending the town.
As a result of today's advance, the Syrian Arab Army has now established fire control over the northern district of the town; this has forced Jaysh Al-Islam to abandon their first-line of defense at Hazrama.
The Syrian Arab Army will attack Hazrama in the coming days, as they use their territorial advantage to advance against the crumbling Islamist rebels.
