Participants in Syria talks discuss some ideas — Lavrov
The foreign ministers discussed some ideas and agreed to continue contacts in the near future at the ministerial meeting on Syria held in Lausanne, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Saturday.
"There are some ideas that were discussed in that format representing quite mighty nations, which could influence the situation. We agreed to further the contacts in the coming days, expecting certain agreements which would help promote the settlement," Lavrov said.
"We have called unequivocally for the relaunch of a political process as soon as possible without any delay," he added.
The four-and-a-half hours' ministerial meeting in the Swiss lakeside city of Lausanne centered on restoring truce in Syria. Among the participants were the foreign ministers of Russia, the United States, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar alongside UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
The delegations said no press conference was expected.
