Russian Defense Ministry: Nine more reconciliation agreements signed in Syria
New reconciliation agreements have been signed in Syria, but terrorists' provocations continue, the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties said in its regular news bulletin posted on the Russian Defense Ministry's website.
"Over the past 24 hours, reconciliation agreements have been signed with representatives of 9 populated localities in the provinces of Homs (5) and Latakia (4). The number of settlements that have joined the reconciliation process has grown to 548," the document said.
Negotiations on joining ceasefire with field commanders of armed opposition groups in the provinces of Homs, Latakia, Quneitra and Hama continue. "The number of armed units that have declared their commitment to the terms of cessation of hostilities, has remained unchanged - 69," the bulletin said.
Compliance with cessation of hostilities and provocations
The cessation of hostilities regime have been observed in the majority of Syria's provinces over the past 24 hours. Eight violations were registered in the provinces of Damascus (7) and Latakia (1). The bulletin emphasized that neither the Russian Aerospace Forces nor Syrian Air Force carried out air strikes on opposition units that declared the cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or US reconciliation center about their exact locations.
"Units of Jaysh al-Islam identifying themselves as an opposition group shelled with mortars the populated localities of Erbil, Jisreen, Nashabiya, Jaubar, Haush-Duara, Qaboun and Douma in Damascus province," the bulletin said.
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that in Latakia province the armed units of the Ahrar al-Sham group shelled the Hamrat populated locality.
"Units of the Jabhat al-Nusra and Islamic State terrorist organizations (outlawed in Russia) continue to hinder the final establishment of the cessation of hostilities regime," the Russian Reconciliation center said. "Over the past 24 hours, in Aleppo province terrorists have shelled with self-made multiple launch rocket systems, anti-tank guided complexes and tank guns the Benyamin populated locality, the Leramon and Ashrafiya neighborhoods and the areas close to the military schools and waste treatment facilities in the city of Aleppo."
Terrorist groups' armed units in the Damascus province shelled with mortars the populated localities of Douma, Haush Nasri, Qaboun, Haush Harabu, Ibn Sina and Mazraat Mahmoud and the Syrian army positions near the populated localities of Osman (Daraa Province), Mardes and Maharda (Hama Province).
Humanitarian aid
The Russian Defense Ministry noted that humanitarian aid - more than two tonnes of flour, 400 kg of sugar and 500 food kits - had been delivered to Bab Jannah, Latakia Province, for the needy families. Field kitchens for civilians leaving Aleppo's districts controlled by terrorist groups continue to work as well.
