Syrian Army detonates tunnels in east Damascus, kills dozens of militants
Scores of rebel fighters have been killed, others buried under rubbles, as the Syrian Army blew up a network of tunnels in the insurgent-held Jobar district, only a few kilometers to the east of Damascus.
The tunnels were extensively used by Faylaq al-Rahman and are linked to a main tunnel that leads to the rebels' heartland.
According to the Syrian Army's field reporter in the area, the explosion went off once the militants were confirmed inside the tunnels; most of them have been killed, the rest seriously injured.
Sporadic firefights then ensued as the government troops prevented Islamist rebels from recovering the corpses and wounded.
