Jund Al-Aqsa begins Ma'an offensive in northern Hama
Jund Al-Aqsa (Al-Qaeda franchise), backed by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Ajnad Al-Sham, launched their offensive to capture the key village of Ma'an in the northern Hama countryside this morning.
According to Jund Al-Aqsa's official social media wing, their forces managed to capture Tal Bazaam and four other checkpoints to the east of the aforementioned hilltop after a swift advance past the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) defenses.
Following the capture of these sites from the Syrian Arab Army, the jihadist rebels of Jund Al-Aqsa are now on the western outskirts of Ma'an, where they are facing heavy resistance from the government forces.
Ma'an is important to the jihadist rebels because of its location along the Hama-Idlib Highway; if captured, Jund Al-Aqsa can push further south towards Kawkab village.
