Jihadist rebels continue massive Hama offensive
The jihadist rebels of Jund Al-Aqsa (Al-Qaeda franchise), alongside their allies from the Free Syrian Army (FSA), continued their wide-scale northern Hama offensive on Tuesday afternoon, targeting the government-controlled villages of Taybat Al-Imam and Bateesh.
Jund Al-Aqsa began today's assault by seizing the Sawwan Checkpoint that is situated just north of Taybat Al-Imam; this military installation is considered the Syrian Arab Army's last line of defense before the aforementioned town.
Following the capture of the Sawwan Checkpoint this afternoon, Jund Al-Aqsa and their Islamist allies stormed the northern flank of Taybat Al-Imam, where they are currently engaged in a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army's 11th Tan Division.
Meanwhile, west of Taybat Al-Imam, the jihadist rebels managed to enter the small village of Bateesh after pushing south from the recently captured town of Helfaya.
Clashes are ongoing at Bateesh; however, it is most likely going to fall to the jihadist rebels in the coming hours, as the Syrian Armed Forces continue to withdraw south.
