Islamists fail to capture Al-Rai in northern Aleppo
A large group of Islamist rebels launched a new offensive in the northern Aleppo countryside on Monday, targeting the key town of Al-Rai, which is currently under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
Led by Jaysh Al-Tahrir, Sultan Murad Brigades, and Jabhat Al-Shamiya, the Islamist rebels attacked the Al-Rai Grain Silos, where they were confronted by an exhausted Islamist State force.
Initially, the Islamist rebels were able to capture the Al-Rai Grain Silos; however, their attempt to enter this strategic village was foiled by the Islamic State terrorists after a fierce battle on Monday evening.
Following this battle at Al-Rai village, the Islamic State launched a counter-attack to recapture the Grain Silos; this assault would prove successful, as the terrorist group expelled the remaining Islamists from area.
