US backed rebels liberate three villages in northeast Aleppo
The U.S. backed "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) imposed full control over three villages in the northeastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Thursday after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) near Menbeij.
According to the YPG media wing, the Syrian Democratic Forces liberated the villages of Al-Jawathah, Al-Hammam, and Al-Bourtoghali in east Menbeij.
As a result of their gains on Thursday, the Syrian Democratic Forces are now within 11 km of Menbeij, marking the first time since 2013 that any group has entered the aforementioned city's outskirts.
