Lavrov, Kerry discuss joint operations against terrorists in Syria
In a telephone conversation on Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed Russia's proposals to hold joined operations in Syria against terrorists, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the conversation initiated by the US.
"The conversation focused on the situation around Syria, including Russia's proposals to hold joint operations against active in that country terrorist groups and other illegal armed groups that have not joined the ceasefire regime, as well as preventing gunmen and weapons from getting across the Turkish border," the ministry said.
"Lavrov once again pointed to a need for Washington's fulfilling as soon as possible its pledge to set apart the US-leaning Syrian opposition from Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists, who are not covered by the ceasefire," it said.
