Moscow says noted reports on arms supplies to Syria from Eastern Europe

Russian Foreign Ministry has noted mass media reports suggesting that Syrian militants might be getting weaponry of Soviet manufacture from East-European countries.

"An intensification of the flows of contraband weaponry and shells across the Turkish-Syrian border has been registered," the ministry said in a commentary on Friday. "A number of international media have claimed a big consignment of Soviet-made weaponry has been dispatched to the Syrian militants from the depots in an East-European country."

The diplomats say the case in hand is AK-47 automatic assault rifles, RPK and DSK machineguns, ammunitions for 14.5 mm small arms and 82 mm mortars, and also rounds of ammunitions for antitank complexes meant for destroying targets with explosive reactive armor.
