Syrian Air Force destroys ISIL headquarters near the Lebanese border
The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) carried out a number of air raids in the western Damascus countryside on Tuesday, striking several sites belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group "Jabhat Al-Nusra" at the Jarajeer border-crossing into Jaroud 'Arsal (Lebanon).
According to a senior officer from the Syrian Air Defense, the SAAF received an intelligence report from their Russian advisers about an ISIL command and control center located in the western slopes of the Qalamoun Mountans; this prompted the air force to conduct several reconnaissance missions to scope out the site.
Once confirmed, the Syrian Air Force carried out a powerful series of airstrikes that destroyed the command and control center in Jaroud Jarajeer, reportedly killing several ISIL terrorists in the process.
In conjunction with the Syrian Air Force's airstrikes, the Lebanese Army is carrying out several raids in the 'Arsal District, where ISIL has built a large presence over the last few months.
Recently, the Lebanese Armed Forces have concentrated a large number of their military personnel to the Ras Al-Ba'albak and Jaroud Qa'a area of the Beqa'a Governorate in order to combat the growing threat posed by ISIL in east Lebanon.
