Main government supply route to Aleppo still cutoff by ISIS
By now, the news of the Syrian Armed Forces recapturing the strategic city of Khanasser in northeastern Hama has spread across the country; however, its liberation does not change the situation on the ground, including the current obstruction of both the Khanasser-Aleppo Road and the Sheikh Hilal-Ithriyah Road.
The city of Khanasser was just one piece of the puzzle for the government forces, they still have to liberate 4 more villages along the Khanasser-Ithriyah Road, which will prove to be far more difficult than any other military operation taking place around the country today.
Leading the way for the government in the Khanasser Plains is the Syrian Arab Army's powerful special operations division known as the "Tiger Forces".
Led by the prominent field commander Colonel Suheil Al-Hassan, the Tiger Forces have been able to liberate Rasm Al-Nafal, Khanasser, and several other hilltops in the last 24 hours.
With their extensive fighting experience against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), the Tiger Forces have proven to be the game-changer in the Aleppo Governorate's southeastern countryside.
Now, they are tasked with the important objective of liberating the entire roadway and reopening the government's only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate.
Once they successfully complete this military endeavor, the Tiger Forces will shift their focus to building a buffer-zone around this strategic roadway that has now been obstructed twice in the last 5 months.
