Most wanted ISIL terrorist captured in Lebanon
On Monday, the Lebanese Army arrested a senior member the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) inside the city of 'Arsal after receiving several tips from local citizens.
The ISIL terrorist was identified by the Lebanese authorities as Ahmad Mohammad Ammoun (AKA "Ahmad Fattoum).
Ammoun, age 26, was considered one of the most dangerous terrorists inside Lebanon before he was apprehended on Monday.
According to the Lebanese security forces, Ammoun was wanted by both the Lebanese and Syrian authorities for terrorist related activities.
The Lebanese Defense Ministry added that Ammoun joined the Al-Farouq Brigades of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in late 2011 and worked a weapons and militant smuggler.
Ammoun carried out several attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Tal Kalakh District of the Homs Governorate before turning his attention to Al-Qa'a area of northeast Lebanon.
He became notorious in Syria for his sectarian crimes, which included brutally executing two Christian monks at the St. Elias Church in Jousiah (Syrian village).
Following the Free Syrian Army's loss at Al-Qusayr, Ammoun turned his attention to abducting civilians and ransoming them for money.
It was reported by Al-Manar that Ammoun helped abduct at least 200 civilians from the Rablah in Syria.
Later, Ammoun turned his attention to the Qalamoun Mountains of both Lebanon and Syria, where he helped recruit new members to Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group).
When the situation fell apart in the Qalamoun Mountains, Ammoun joined ISIL in his hometown of 'Arsal, where he mentored several future suicide bombers.
His capture by the Lebanese authorities is considered a major break-through in the war against terrorism.
