Syrian Army threatens the ISIS oil trade in Raqqa after capturing Jibab Marayta

On Tuesday evening, the Syrian Arab Army's 555th Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division - backed by Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), Fouj Al-Joulan (Golani Regiment), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the pro-government Palestinian militia "Liwaa Al-Quds" (Jerusalem Brigade) - imposed full control over the wells of Jibab Marayta in the oil rich part of northern Syria after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

Following the capture of Jibab Marayta in the Ithriyah countryside, the Syrian Arab Army's 555th Brigade and their allies pushed east towards ISIS' primary supply from the east Homs oil fields to the Al-Raqqa Governorate, striking the imperative hilltop of Khirbat Al-Qusayr, which is located just south of the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway.

The ISIS supply route the Syrian Arab Army's 555th Brigade and their allies are attempting to cutoff is located along the Soukhanah-Sufayah Road; this aforementioned roadway flows into the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway that ultimately leads to the strategic Tabaqa Military Airport and the provincial capital of the Al-Raqqa Governorate (ISIS capital).

If they were successful in cutting off the Soukhanah-Sufayah Road, the Syrian Armed Forces would be two roadways away from seizing ISIS' last oil transport route sin eastern Syria; this would also be the terrorist group's last two supply routes from Al-Raqqa Governorate.

Meanwhile, along the Salamiyah-Raqqa Highway, another battalion from the Syrian Arab Army's 555th Brigade continued their advance around the strategic desert-city of Zakiyah, where they seized more oil wells before surrounding the remaining ISIS fighters entrenched nearby.
