Syrian Army captures Tal Al-Kassarat from ISIS in southern Quraytayn
Minutes ago in the Homs Governorate's southeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army's 120th Brigade of the 2nd Division - in close coordination with Dara' Qalamoun (Qalamoun Shield), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) - established control over the large hilltop of Tal Al-Kassarat after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) this morning.
According to local media correspondents, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a powerful assault on ISIS' front-line defenses in Jabal Al-Mahsaa, resulting in a fierce battle at several hilltops near the southern perimeter of Quraytayn.
The Syrian Armed Forces would capture Tal Al-Kassarat after a brief, but intense firefight with the ISIS terrorists entrenched along the northern hills of Jabal Al-Mahsaa; they have now advanced to northwestern perimeter of this mountain range in southeastern Homs.
Once the Syrian Armed Forces are able to impose full control over Jabal Al-Mahsaa, they will be within striking distance of Quraytayn's southern district, marking the first time in nearly 6 months that any government force has reached this part of the city.
The ancient Assyrian city of Quraytayn was captured by ISIS in early August of 2015, resulting in a massive withdrawal for the pro-government forces along the southeastern Homs front.
