Syrian fighting continues Tuesday
Syria's 18-month-old violence continued on Tuesday in many hotspots nationwide, showing no sign of abating.
A pro-government Syrian TV said many civilians were injured Tuesday when armed insurgents fired Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) in the Damascus' suburb of Sbaineh.
However, the oppositional Local Coordination Committees (LCC) said the injuries occurred in Sbaineh were due to intense artillery shelling, adding that the Syrian tanks rolled into the troublesome area.
The violence in Sbaineh is part of incessant chaos that has engulfed most of the Syrian cities over the past months of crisis.
Clashes between the Syrian troops and the armed insurgent groups have been raging on for days at the southern wing of Damascus, such as Tadamun, Hajar al-Aswad and Yalda areas, which surround the Palestinian camp of Yarmouk.
The state media said the army gained the upper hand in its fighting in those areas, however, witness said violent clashes are currently taking place in the al-Urooba part of the Palestinian camp of Yarmouk in Damascus.
Activists said a helicopter gunship fired multiple shells in the surroundings areas of the Yarmouk camp. They said fire shots have also been heard at the entrance of the 30 street in Yarmouk.
The LCC said at least 60 people were killed nationwide Tuesday, However, the activists' claim couldn't be checked.
The gang-style attacks by the armed rebels aim to exhaust the Syrian troops, which have become overstretched in urban battles with the rebels on various fronts.
An amateur video appeared online Tuesday purporting to show the bodies of 20 army soldiers who were reportedly executed by the armed rebels last Friday at the Hanano area in the northern Aleppo province.
The video showed the soldiers' bodies lay down on a sidewalk in the execution position -- heads down on the side walk, hands tied up behind their backs with the blood trickling from the mouths.
Activists said the rebels had made gains in fighting in the Hanano area, which comprises residential blocks and military barracks.
However, the Syrian army unleashed its firepower and regained full control of the Hanano area on Monday, while posing to mount a wide-scale offensive in other hotspots in Aleppo to eliminate armed insurgency, which has become rampant in the northern crucial province.
