UN chief slams deadly bombing attacks in Syria
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Wednesday condemned "in the strongest terms" deadly bomb attacks in Homs, western Syria, which killed 39 people, including 30 school children between the ages of six and nine.
The secretary-general "regards this as an act of the utmost depravity," said a statement issued here by Ban's spokesman.
The UN chief reiterated his call on all warring sides in this brutal and bloody conflict to stop the indiscriminate use of any weapons immediately, and appealed to all Syrian, regional and international actors to redouble their efforts to bring this horrific conflict to an end and help reach a long-overdue political solution, said the statement.
Meanwhile, Ban extended "his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wishes a swift recovery to those injured in today's bombings," added the statement.
Twin bombs were detonated as kids were leaving school in Homs, reports said. The toll is among the highest suffered by children in suicide attacks in Syria since the outbreak of the Syrian conflict in March 2011.
