World powers meet for preparations of Syria peace talks

Delegates from the United Nations, Russia and the United States arrived here Tuesday for a trilateral meeting for the preparations of the long-delayed peace talks on Syria.

Participants of the meeting include UN and Arab League Joint Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman, Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Bogdanov and Gennady Gatilov and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman.

Following the meeting, talks will be held in the afternoon with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Syria's neighboring countries - Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey - will join another session with them later in the day.
