Decision on extending EU's anti-Russian sanctions to follow in coming days -- Tusk
A formal decision on extending the European Union's sanctions against Russia should follow in coming days ahead of the EU's summit in Brussels on June 25-26, President of the European Council Donald Tusk said on Sunday.
Tusk spoke at a press conference ahead of a summit of the G7 group of the world's leading nations opening in Germany on Sunday.
"A formal decision on extending the EU's sanctions against Russia should follow in the coming days, i.e. before the EU's summit in Brussels. Today the sole realistic scenario is keeping the sanctions against Russia unchanged," he said.
He also said, that all the participants in the summit of the G7 group would like to see Russia at the forum's table.
'We would all prefer to see Russia at the table of the forum so that it can become the G8 group. But our group is a community of values and that is why Russia is not with us today and will not be invited as long as it acts aggressively against Ukraine or other countries," Tusk said.
