Moscow calls on Sweden to ensure inviolability of Russia's mission in Stockholm

Moscow expects Sweden to take all possible measures to ensure the inviolability of the Russian mission in Stockholm, First deputy foreign minister Vladimir Titov said at a meeting with his Swedish counterpart Frank Belgrage, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The Russian diplomat appealed to his Swedish counterpart, State Secretary for foreign affairs Mr. Frank Belgrage, asking him to settle a conflict over an office building of the Russian Trade Mission in Stockholm, which is also a residential block for workers of the trade mission and their families.
"Moscow expects the Swedish authorities to take exhaustive measures to ensure safety and inviolability of the Russian trade mission in Stockholm in accordance with Sweden's obligations under international law," Titov said.
Earlier, Russia had declared its protest against a resolution made by the Swedish authorities to sell the building of the Russian trade mission in Stockholm which is protected by diplomatic immunity.
"Protection of diplomats' real estate and observing the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations is a direct responsibility of the authorities of the country which accredits a diplomatic mission," a Russian official from the presidential administration declared last week.
"Russia does not recognize the court decision to sell the building of Russia's trade mission in Stockholm," Russian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said earlier. "We hope the Swedish authorities will take all necessary measures to ensure inviolability and security of the Russian mission in line with Sweden's liabilities under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
