Ukraine's imports of Russian gas up almost 50%

Ukraine increased imports of Russian gas by almost 50%, the country's gas pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz reported Tuesday.

According to the report, on March 29 Ukraine's import of Russian gas totaled 17.15 million cubic meters, though the average gas offtake totaled around 10 million cubic meters in March.

In March, Ukraine is expected to import around 300 million cubic meters of Russian gas and transfer $105 million for it.

The discounted contractual price for the Russian gas in March stood at $329 for 1,000 cubic meters.

Last week Gazprom said the latest tranche worth $15 million would be sufficient for gas supplies till the end of the month or April 1.
