Russia's truck shipments across Turkey impossible due to expired licence

Russia's truck shipments across Turkey are impossible as the Turkish agreements received in 2015 expired on January 31, 2016, the Association of International Road Transport Carriers (ASMAP) reported on Monday.

"Up to the present moment the Turkish side hasn't accorded the quota of agreements for 2016. Currently, Russia's Transport Ministry is assuming measures to settle the issue as proposals on change of agreements have been submitted to the Turkish side once again," the report said.

As Russia's Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said in December 2015 the number of issued bilateral permissions for truck shipments from Turkey to the Russian Federation will decrease four-fold. According to the minister, the decision will affect the trucking business.

Russia's Transport Ministry grants permissions for truck shipments to the ASMAP, which distributes them further among market players, Sokolov said. Earlier, Russia's government published a decree, which particularly restricted the number of permissions for Turkish companies for 2016 to 2 thousand and did not rule out potential cancelation of those already granted for next year.
