Ministry: Adoption of final document on NPT failed due to positions of US, UK, Canada
Adoption of the final document of the 2015 High-level Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), failed due to positions of the US, the UK and Canada, Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
"We have to state regretfully that because of the positions of the US, Great Britain and Canada at the Conference, could not be adopted the final document, which contained provisions on implementation of the 1995 resolution on organisation in the Middle East of a zone free from nuclear and all other mass destruction weapons, as well as from means of their delivery...," the diplomats said commenting on meetings in New York. "Despite of these results of the conference, the Russian Federation is ready in cooperation with other countries to continue development of NPT, providing its integrity and viability.".
