Hollande threatens more sanctions against Russia as violence escalates in Ukraine
French President Francois Hollande on Saturday threatened to order further strong economic sanctions against Russia in response to Moscow's soldiers presence and persistent support to protesters in eastern Ukraine.
Speaking at a meeting of Europe's Leftists in Paris, Hollande stressed "without doubt" the European Union (EU) would impose more tough sanctions over Russia due "to a clear worsening situation" in Ukraine.
However, the Socialist leader reiterated Paris' support to reach a political solution based on the respect of Ukraine integrity and sovereignty.
Adding to that, Hollande said he's ready to broker a fresh meeting between Russian and Ukrainian top officials "if Moscow show willingness to end what's happening in Ukraine."
