Over 5,000 servicemen take part in drills in southern Russia
Drills on ensuring security during the upcoming holidays were held in all garissons of Russia's Southern Military District, the district's press service said on Monday.
"Among participants in the drills were around 5,000 servicemen, around 1,500 units of military equipment, including aircraft from the 4th Army of the Russian Air Force, ships from the Black Sea Fleet and Caspian Flotilla," the press service said.
In particular, motorized rifle units used military equipment to hold tactical drills on countering the illegal crossing of subversive groups into the territory of military units, on checking the equipment at checkpoints and access roads.
Marines and crew members from ships of the Black Sea Fleet and Caspian Flotilla fulfilled tasks of blocking a designated area, countering terrorirsts, evacuating civilian personnel and those injured from the territory of military units.
Other participants in the drills included services of radiation chemical and bilogical response, firefighting and medical services of military units, as well as military police.
