Group of gunmen blocked in North Caucasus village
Russian commandoes have blocked a group of gunmen and engaged in a clash with them in the village of Dygulybgei in the Baksan district in Russian North Caucasian Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, a source in regional law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
"A group from two to three gunmen was blocked in the settlement of Dygulybgei in the Baksan district. A clash broke out. A battle rages on," the source said.
The anti-terrorist operation regime was introduced at 11.45 Moscow time (8.45 am BST) on Sunday, the republican operations headquarters said.
"The anti-terrorist operation regime was introduced by chief of the Federal Security Service department in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria Major General Sergey Kmenny within administrative boundaries of the village of Dygulybgei in the Baksan district to avert terrorist acts, ensure security of people, organisations and institutions, search and detain escaping gunmen," the source said.
The special regime and temporary restrictions will be in effect during the anti-terrorist operation up to special orders in this locality.
