Russian Aerospace Force to receive six S-400 antiaircraft missile systems
The Russian Aerospace Force plan receiving six S-400 Triumf long-range antiaircraft missile systems, Commander-in-Chief Col. Gen Viktor Bondarev said on Sunday.
"The industry is approaching the planned amounts, and thus this year we shall receive six S-400 systems, and next year the amount would be similar," he said. "We have everything necessary to protect our air borders."
The commander said S-400 systems have proved to be highly reliable and having exquisite qualities, which were confirmed in the systems' smooth work in military units.
The S-400 Triumf is the newest long-range antiaircraft missile system that went into service in 2007.
It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and can also be used against ground objectives.
The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
