There should be no borders between Russia and Abkhazia — Russian president's aide
There should be no borders between Russia and Abkhazia, Russian president's aide Vladislav Surkov said on Monday after a meeting with Abkhazian leaders.
Surkov arrived in Abkhazia on a one-day visit to discuss issues of the implementation of the investment program of Abkhazia's socio-economic development for 2015-2017.
Journalists asked the presidential aide to comment on the situation at border crossing points between the two states, where lots of transport vehicles have to spend much time in long queue every day. "I saw the situation at the border, I crossed it today myself," he said. "The border should be cancelled in the long run. There should be no borders between us, and this is provided in the new Treaty on Allied Relations and Strategic Partnership."
"To solve this task, further joint efforts are needed. Today, we discussed this issue and I think the problem will be solved in the near future," Abkhazian President Raul Khadzhimba said in turn.
