Tripoli ready to consider African Union road map and to observe the resolutions 1970 and 1973
Tripoli is ready to consider the road map approaches of the African Union and to observe the resolutions 1970 and 1973, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after a meeting with Gaddafi’s envoy here on Tuesday.
“The response, which we heard, cannot be called negative,” the minister noted. “They said to us that Tripoli is ready to consider such approaches, which are based on the road map of the African Union and are ready to fulfill the complete demands under the resolutions 1970 and 1973,” Lavrov pointed out.
“The only thing that our interlocutors from Tripoli noted is that the rebels should take reciprocal steps and that NATO should stop the bombings,” Lavrov added.
“This is actually the task, which the UN General Secretary’s special envoy, who visited Moscow yesterday, is seeking to resolve,” the minister went on to say. “We were discussing the current situation in Libya with him. We support his position to persuade all warring parties in the conflict to reach a ceasefire agreement and to agree on the deadlines and terms of a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible,” Lavrov added.
“If we succeed to do it, there are no reasons for the bombings to continue,” Lavrov pointed out.
The Islamic Appeal world association was established in 1972 at the initiative of the Jamahiriya leader Muammar Gaddafi.
