Libya deputy PM resigns, citing "dysfunctional gov't"
Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Awad al-Barasi resigned Saturday, saying he "cannot work in a dysfunctional government" where his powers are deprived.
Barasi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Justice and Construction party, made the announcement at a press conference in Benghazi.
He expressed discontent toward Prime Minister Ali Zeidan and his cabinet, saying the man did not live up to his promise.
Zeidan said last week he would reshuffle the cabinet and reorganize the government in response to the violent demonstrations sparked by the assassination of a political activist and critic of the Muslim Brotherhood.
