NHK chief apologizes for inappropriate comments
The new president of Japanese public broadcaster NHK has apologised for his inappropriate remarks on forced prostitution during World War Two.
Answering questions from Japan's lawmakers, Katsuto Momii said he's sorry for "causing trouble" as he said the use of military prostitutes, which in Japan were called "comfort women", was common in all countries at war, not just Japan.
Last Saturday, Momii also criticized South Korea for the issue of compensations. His remarks were slammed both in Japan and South Korea, and South Korea's ruling party urged Momii to resign. But Momii said he will hold the post of NHK's head.
