Former warlord killed, 8 injured in Takhar hotel bombing
Two civilians including a former jihadi commander were killed and eight others wounded as a result of a landmine blast in the Ashkamesh district of northeastern Takhar province on Sunday, an official said.
Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Khalil Aseer told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Qanyar area of the district at around 9:30am. The dead included Nazuk Mir, a militant commander during the jihad against the Soviet occupation.
Eight people were wounded in the explosion. Noorullah, the resident of locality, said the blast was so powerful that it damaged most part sof the hotel. He added many people suffered casualties. However, he was unaware of the exact number.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosion.
