Berlin responds to Russia's note over Yatsenyuk's statement on Soviet invasion to Germany
The Russian side has received a reply of the Germany Foreign Ministry to Moscow's request to clarify Berlin's position on the Ukrainian prime minister's recent statement on the Soviet "invasion" to Germany, a Russian diplomatic source said on Friday.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in an interview with the German TV channel ARD on January 8: "All of us still clearly remember the Soviet invasion to Ukraine and Germany."
The source said that the German Foreign Ministry refused to comment on statements made by foreign politicians during their stay in the country.
He said that Moscow was surprised with Berlin's response to the Russian note. "We regard it as the parners' unreadiness for an unbiased reaction to Yatsenyuk's obvious provocation," the source said.
"This is all the more immoral on the 70th anniversary of the victory and defeat of Nazisim and against the background of frequent attempts to distort events of the world and European history."
