Dear Mr. Geithner.

I take this opportunity to salute you and to thank you for you time.

I am currently hold the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Chair in Spanish Culture and Civilization at New York University.

As part of my responsabilities here I have organized a series of seminars, Transatlantic Dialogs, one of wich I sincerely hope you will be able to participate in. As you will see in the enclosed program many leaders from many key fields have been invited towards the end of improving relations between Spain, Latin America and the United States.

For New York University and for me personally it would be a great honor if you would accept this invitation to participate in the seminar on the Economy, scheduled to take place on Monday, October 17th 2005, from 6-8 PM. No prepared remarks will be necessary. Also intervening in the discussion that evening are: Francisco Luzón (Director of the Banco Santander Central Hispano, Spain); César Alierta (President of Telefónica, S.A., Spain), and Francisco González (President of the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, Spain).

I thank you in advance and am at your disposal.
