Europe sets all-time record for LNG imports in March
In March, Europe set an all-time record for liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports amid a prolonged heating season and impending market difficulties due to the Middle East conflict, according to TASS calculations based on data from Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).
By the end of March, LNG flowing from European terminals into the EU gas transmission system totaled approximately 13.7 billion cubic meters, up 15% from February and 8% from March 2025. The previous peak in supplies was recorded in May 2025 at 12.85 billion cubic meters.
As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, LNG inflows from terminals into Europe's gas transmission system remain at a record level of over 38 billion cubic meters, which is 13% higher than during the same period in 2025.
