Combination of injection, nasal vaccines to provide better protection, developer says
A drop in coronavirus incidence in Russia should not become an excuse to refuse inoculation or revaccination against the infection. For better protection, it is possible to use a combination of an injection jab and revaccination with a nasal vaccine, according to Director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Health Ministry Alexander Gintsburg.
"The current interval when the incidence is down should be used as much as possible to inoculate as many people as possible against COVID as well as to switch to a revaccination system with a nasal vaccine. It is necessary to combine the injection preparation and the intranasal form, I think, this is our future," he said.
On April 1, Russia's Health Ministry certified the first nasal vaccine against coronavirus worldwide. According to Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, it may be included in the updated recommendations on revaccination of residents.
