Agreements reached at Syria Support Group talks in Munich - Russian diplomat

Agreements were reached at the talks of the Syria Support Group in Germany's Munich, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov told TASS on Friday.

Asked by a TASS correspondent whether agreements were reached in the course of the consultations, which kicked off on Thursday night and lasted more than four hours, Gatilov said "Yes," but abstained from making any other comments.

Participants in the talks stated on Thursday their main aim was to achieve some progress on the ceasefire in war-torn Syria and to establish access to humanitarian aid.

Diplomatic sources earlier told TASS that February 15, 23 and March 1 were earlier thought as possible dates for starting ceasefire.

A communique will be issued after the consultations of the Syria Support Group in Germany's Munich describing the results and agreements reached in the course of the talks, a source from one of the delegations at the consultations told TASS.

"We are waiting for the communique just like it used to be after the talks in the same format," the source said in an interview with TASS.

The source added that "the main provisions of the consultations will be announced at the joint news conference" of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura.

The consultations on the Syrian conflict settlement in Munich started at 7:00 p.m. local time (18:00 GMT) and lasted for more than four hours.

The International Syria Support Group held its last meeting in Vienna on November 14. It was attended by delegations of 19 countries, including Russia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Italy, Egypt, Britain, Germany, Lebanon, Qatar, Iran, France, China, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Oman.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini; UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura and a League of Arab States (LAS) representative also took part in the consultations.
