Russia notes progress in cooperation within BRICS -- official

Secretary of Russia's Security Council has said Russia and China continue close cooperation with BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

"Cooperation within BRICS gains momentum. Our group remains an important locomotive for developing the world economy and exceeds the growth rates of the Group of Seven," Nikolai Patrushev said on Friday.

"In the last year BRICS achieved serious progress. We formed common positions on major political issues: Syria, Iran, international terrorism and global information security," he said.
